After quitting my job, I decided to take up cake decorating (and blogging). I made a pact to myself that 2009 was going to be a good year and I was going to do everything and anything that made me happy. Come along for the ride!

Nicholas Lodge Week

Tomorrow I begin round 2 of Wilton schooling in Darien, IL.

This week it's Gum Paste Flowers with Nicholas Lodge.

Nicholas Lodge is the owner of International School of Sugar and Confectionary Arts in Atlanta, Georgia, and was inducted into the International Cake Exploration Societé (ICES) Hall of Fame in 2001. Nicholas has written many books on cake decorating, gingerbread and gumpaste as well as a variety of instructional DVDs and tapes. In addition to the school in Atlanta, Lodge has a sister school in Tokyo, Japan. He spends his year teaching and traveling between the two locations, as well as special classes held at other schools throughout the United States and around the world.

I have seen his work at the Wilton school and could only dream of being able to create flowers as pretty and realistic as his.

Stay tuned to see how I do by the end of this week. :o)

The best part of attending Wilton courses is staying at Extended Stay. Although the school is only 45 minutes from where I live, I love the convenience of waking up and being there in 5....*laughing with embarrassment*

Anyways, I would make myself a nice filling breakfast in the morning and then enjoy unlimited coffee at the school. During break time, Lorena (School Coordinator) treats us to her OH SO YUMMY sweets. Mmm..Mmm..Mmm *licking lips* :o) This lady is AMAZING...she has so much to do and yet she manages to get it all done with a great big smile on her face. How I envy people like that :o)

Last time, Amanda (from Miami) was my station partner. She and I had such a blast...especially when we were both VERY tired. Go TEAM SLACKER!...don't know what it was but we always managed to fall behind the rest of the class. *giggles* It was probably because we were always goofing off. *sigh* Oh well...such fun! We worked so well together especially during clean up time. She would clean the station and I would clean the supplies...if she had to use the sink while I was cleaning, she would take a moment to prepare herself mentally for the INSANELY HOT water she claimed that I used. :o) So many laughs, so many wonderful memories..good times..good times....I couldn't have asked for a better partner. I hope my new partner will be just as cool.
